Importing Goods from the UK

As all of our products are shipped from our warehouse in the UK by air, if you live outside of the UK then your order might incur import and customs charge payments. Each country has its own customs rules which are enforced by the destination country's customs and border control. They take into consideration the type of product being imported, the quantity of items, and the value of the order. Some countries do not charge customs on orders under a certain value, so we advise speaking with your local delivery office for advice on any potential fees.

When your parcel reaches the destination country, you can expect an email or text from the courier advising you of any fees and your next steps.  Please ensure an email and phone number are entered when checking out so that you can be contacted about these fees should any be applied.

Understanding Custom Fees

Fees that might be charged when importing goods come from a variety of sources, including the following fees:

  • Import Tax
  • Duty/VAT
  • Brokerage Fees

1. Import Tax

Import taxes are charged by a country or region's customs authority for shipments that are above the Tax de minimis. In most cases, this tax is equivalent to the local sales tax, such as VAT or goods and services tax (GST).

2. Customs Duty

Customs duty is a charge applied to shipments by the receiving country or region's customs authority for shipments that are above the duty de minimise.

Minimum order value before duties and import taxes are applied. Not all orders are subject to duties and import taxes. Many countries and regions have a minimum order value, called a 'de minimis' before duties and import taxes apply.

The following table provides some examples of de minimis values.

 

 

Effective April 5, 2025, the US government has announced a 10% reciprocal tariff on all goods imported from the UK.

This means that all orders shipped from the UK to the U.S., regardless of value, will now be subject to a 10% import tariff upon entry into the United States. This change is part of a broader trade policy update and applies to all UK-made products, including those under the $800 de minimis threshold that were previously duty-free.

 What this means for you:

  • If your order is under $800, it will still be exempt from standard U.S. import duties and taxes.
  • However, the new 10% tariff will still apply.
  • For example, a £200 item (approximately $260) will now incur an additional $26 in U.S. tariff charges.

We recommend checking with U.S. Customs or your local courier service for further details on how this may affect your delivery.

 

3. Brokerage Fees

Carriers might charge a brokerage fee for their services. These are normally inexpensive, with exceptions for Spain.

USA

In the United States, imports are duty and tax-free on orders under 800 USD due to the generous de minimis value. Duty and Tax are chargeable only when the order is over 800 USD. If your parcel is over 800 USD and is due to have customs and import fees, your customs control or courier will be in touch to advise you on these costs and your next steps.

Europe

We ship to every country that is part of the EU - the top 3 destinations are Germany, Sweden and Spain! Each country within the European Union has its own customs and import fee rates. Duty is exempt on orders under 150 EUR. VAT is always charged regardless of the value. Both duty and VAT are due when over 150 EUR. If your parcel is over 150 EUR and is due to have customs and import fees, your customs control or courier will be in touch to advise you on these costs and your next steps.
